England Selection Festival descends on Cumbria

Saturday 10th September sees the north of England RFL selection festival descent on Cumbria.  The Recreation Ground, Whitehaven will play host to Allerdale, Copeland, Barrow and North East Under 18's  to play in a round robin festival as the first rung on the ladder to Great Britain Community Lions U18'a selection. 

Selections will be made on the day for the North of England team that will go to compete at Hopwood Hall, Rochdale in a similar festival on 15th October.

Please note player nominations* must be in no later than Monday 22nd August 2011 and submitted to Anthony Atherton (anthony.atherton@rfl.uk.com or 07775 022 810)

*(Nominations must include full player name, address, club they play for and Date of Birth)

Please note : Players must be Under 18 on the 31st August 2011 to be eligible for selection.

Anthony Atherton (Regional Development Officer) added, "This is a great opportunity for local players to progress from the recent Service Area and Regional programmes and link in to the continued player pathway."

Blake Mahovic (Egremont Rangers & GB Community Lions U18's Tourist - Pictured) stated, "At the selection carnivals last year I had no idea how far I could progress, this year I was fortunate enough to tour South Africa with Great Britain Community Lions U18's and can look back on the memories for years to come.  I would advocate to any up and coming player to be involved in the process and to enjoy themselves!"

There are also vacant coaching opportunities as listed below.  Interested coaches must be qualified to a minimum of UKCC Level 2, available to conduct a minimum of 2 coaching sessions prior to the game and available to attend the relevant fixtures.
