26th October 2011
Big Dance Schools Pledge is back for 2012 and this year they're hoping it will be bigger and better than ever before. The world record takes place on 18 May 2012, the same day that the Olympic Torch arrives in the UK.
The Schools Pledge is in two parts
The Choreography
Wayne McGregor, Artistic Director of Wayne McGregor | Random Dance and Resident Choreographer at the Royal Ballet, will create the 5 minute choreography for the world record attempt. It will be available to download from our website in January 2012. Register your school here and we'll let you know when it's available.
The World Record
We are working with the British Council to promote the Schools Pledge to schools across the world to beat the record for 'The Largest Dance Routine - Multi Venue'.
At 13:00 (British Summer Time - GMT +1) on 18 May 2012 schools around the world will go to their school halls, playgrounds, playing fields or to public spaces and perform the choreography. The current record is held by the Netherlands with 264,188 people and 1,472 locations.

Even if you can't take part in the world record, please join us on 18 May as there will be a participation certificate to download for all schools that take part.
