The Local Organising Committee of the Cumbria School Games is on the look out for budding young reporters to make the magic of the day come to life on the 27th June, at the county finals being held at the Sheepmount Stadium, Carlisle.
The Cumbria School Games team want young people across Cumbria to enter for this outstanding opportunity to become a Cumbria School Games Young Reporter. The young reporters will be given some pre-event training at a special media master class where they will learn all the skills they will need to really tell the School Games story. The young reporters will me mentored on the day and form part of the media team interviewing VIPs, participants, winning teams and streaming reports live online.
David Keetley, Chair of the Cumbria School Games Local Organising Committee said;
"This is a fantastic opportunity for any young person wanting to gain real and practical experience in the world of journalism. We want young people to write or record a report on an event which has taken place at either their school or within the local community. It could be a sports day or a visit to your school by a special guest or group."
To enter, all you have to do is submit an example of reporting. Written entries must be no longer than 100 words and any recorded material (either audio or video) no longer than 2 minutes.
The competition will be judged by the Cumbria School Games Organising Committee and representative from the media. They will be looking for entries which show a genuine flair for journalism. The winning pieces will be attention grabbing, demonstrate strong attention to detail and include interesting and relevant content. The competition is open to young people 18yrs and under. Four winners will be chosen by our judges to report live from the 2012 Cumbria School Games on Wednesday 27th June along with a receiving a £50 iTunes voucher card.
Closing date for entries is 5.00pm on Friday, 1st June 2012.
