The Cumbrian OSCAs - 'Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards'

It's that time of the year again where Cumbrian Cricket clubs and the County Board take time out to thank their volunteers for the hard work they have been doing in Cricket Clubs within our county.

It's no exaggeration to say that cricket clubs and their players would be nowhere if it weren't for the time and effort of volunteers. From Chairmen, to coaches, to tea ladies, they are all integral to the running of a successful cricket club.

It is important that these volunteers are recognised and rewarded for their efforts. The Cumbria Cricket Board OSCA's are our way of reaching out and doing this. In the words of England's Alistair Cook "Every cricket team has its unsung heroes and there are thousands of people involved in the sport who make a big contribution to the success of a club simply by preparing a pitch, keeping score or making teas. "Without the countless hours of hard work by volunteers, many cricket clubs would not be able to function and the OSCAs is a great way of ensuring that they get the recognition they deserve."

This years Cumbria Cricket Board OSCA's event will take place on Friday 22nd July at Workington Cricket Club. A Cumbria Junior League u15 Play off match starts proceedings at 6:00. Many of the Nominees from Cricket Clubs, leagues & officials will be joining board members, invited guests at the game for a buffet meal and the award ceremony.
