Cumberland Clubs Attend Meeting To Discuss New Mens League Within Cumbria

November 27, 2012

Cumbria is currently one of the only counties across England that does not have a Step 7 league, which provides the first step within the National League System.

The proposal discussed at the meeting centred around applying to The FA’s League Committee to commence a Cumbrian league from season 2013-14.

Andrew Hailwood, The FA’s National League Development Manager led the meeting and provided clubs with a clear overview of the requirements (including ground grading), benefits and support available to those who joined any Step 7 League.

This included an overview of the funding support available to clubs, from the Football Foundation’s Stadium Improvement scheme, to support the ground grading requirements such as barriers and changing rooms. More details of this scheme can be seen by clicking HERE or visiting the Football Foundation’s website.

Another meeting is planned in December 2012 to discuss and agree the final provisions needed in order to make an application to the FA.
