The latest round of the Protecting Playing Fields fund is now open, with communities across England able to bid for a share of £2 million funding. So far the fund has helped protect and improve 504 pitches and nearly 1,900 acres of land.
Sport England Chair, Richard Lewis, said: “Playing fields are a vital part of the sporting experience as it is where people often have their first experience of sport.
The Protecting Playing Fields fund is part of our Olympic and Paralympic legacy programme, Places People Play, which is bringing the magic of a home Games into communities across the country.
