Are you passionate about the difference that sport and physical activity can make to communities across Cumbria? Do you have a range of skills that could proactively support the work of Active Cumbria in their mission to increase participation in sport and physical activity? Are you committed to working in partnership with other like-minded people to help achieve better outcomes for the population of Cumbria through sport and physical activity?
Active Cumbria, the sport and physical activity partnership for Cumbria, are seeking to recruit independent representatives to join its Partnership Steering Group.
Active Cumbria has been in existence since 1999 and provides a range of programmes and services to increase participation in sport and physical activity across all parts of the County. The organisation is hosted within Cumbria County Council, and is primarily funded through National Lottery investment via Sport England.
The Steering Group plays a key role in supporting the work of the Core Team of Officers, and independent members will bring high level skills from a range of backgrounds to complement the existing members, who represent a range of key partners and stakeholders. Andy King, Managing Director of Culture Leisure Life, and current Chair of the Steering Group said “This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future direction of the organisation, and play a key role in supporting Active Cumbria in the next stage of their journey. We are looking for a small number of independent representatives to bring a different perspective to the work of the Steering Group. I would encourage anyone with a passion for sport and a range of high level skills to apply to get involved.”
Richard Johnston, Senior Manager (Operations) at Active Cumbria said “The Steering Group plays a pivotal role in supporting, advocating, and championing what we do at Active Cumbria; this is a fabulous opportunity to get involved in some of the great work we do across the whole of the County.”
These positions are not remunerated; however, expenses for attendance at the 4 Steering Group meetings each year can be paid.
Full details regarding the role can be found here.
Applications should be made via letter or email and sent to Richard Johnston, Senior Manager (Operations), Active Cumbria, Parkhouse Building, Baron Way, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA6 4SJ.
