Cumbria ski racer, Francesca Lee returned to Keswick School with 2 National Titles “British Indoor Ski Champion” and “Anglo-Welsh Ski Champion” following the ski races last weekend.
Francesca was awarded a Cumbrian Talented Athlete Fund grant at the start of the year.
The 17-year-old from Penruddock raced down 2 different slalom courses for each title, the Anglo-Welsh Indoors race on the Saturday and then the British Indoors race on the Sunday.
The competitions, were 2 of the 5 indoor races Francesca has raced in this summer, 4 of which she has won and one in which she came 2nd after a mistake on the first run.
Francesca said: “I’m really happy with all my indoor races this year. The ski training and gym work has paid off. On the race days it can be a delicate balance between skiing really fast and staying in the course. One slight mistake can make you lose a race. I concentrate on my own memorised course inspection and on my own method rather than watching and following others in the race.”
“To win overall, especially on both Championship days is a fantastic achievement.”
