Eden crowned Cumbria 2011 Schoolympics Champions!!

The Cumberland Building Society

The Cumberland Building Society have donated £10,000 to support this years Cumbria 2011 Schoolympics. Carol Graham branch manager for Carlisle was at the launch event to recieve the Schoolympics from last years winning district, Carlisle.

Carol Graham, of The Cumberland Building Society said:

"Cumberland Building Society is delighted to be supporting the second SCHOOLympics. The Games will provide a fantastic opportunity for Cumbrian school children to focus their interest in their chosen sport and introduce new sporting events to the sporting calendar of Cumbria. Who knows, perhaps a future British Olympian will take their first competitive steps in Carlisle this June."


Cumbria County Council 

Cumbria County Council are supporting this years Cumbria 2011 Schoolympics and Chairman of Cumbria County Council, Councillor John Woolley, was at the launch to meet the Carlisle School children.

Cllr John Woolley said:

"It is fantastic that the Cumbria Schoolympics is held to encourage the young people of our County to become more active. It is essential that we do all we can to encourage young people to become involved in sport and physical activity at the earliest possible age to encourage them to be active throughout their lives. I'm delighted that Cumbria County Council, through the Active Cumbria Team and many other partner agencies are able to support this extremely positive and worthwhile event."


Lloyd Motor Group

Lloyd Motor Group are delighted to support the Cumbria 2011 Schoolympics. Sue Pearn-Rowe, Franchise Marketing Manager at Lloyd Motor Group said;

Angel Springs

Angel Springs are the proud water sponsor for the Cumbria 2011 Schoolympics.  Mark Cross of Angel Springs said:

" We supported the Cumbria 2010 Schoolympics and felt it was a great event to get involved in. We had no hesitation in getting involved again this year and contributing to such a fabulous event for young people in Cumbria."


Copeland Borough Council 

The mayor of Copeland, Cllr Peter Taylor attended the launch event for this years Cumbria Schoolympics and express how proud he was that Copeland Borough Council was once again supporting the event this year.

Cllr Peter Taylor, Deputy Mayor of Copeland said:

"Copeland Borough Council are delighted to support the 2011 Cumbria Schoolympics, and I know that there have been many local qualifying events taking place right across Copeland to select teams for the finals event in Carlisle on 30th June. I would like to offer my congratulations to all the qualifying teams and I wish them the best of luck at the finals."


Allerdale Borough Council

Allerdale are kindly supporting the county finals event this year and Cllr Mark Fryer, portfolio holder for Sport Development at Allerdale Borough Council said:
 
"It's great for Allerdale Borough Council to be able to support such a showcase event. It is the culmination of a lot of hard work from Schools and excellent performances from the young people throughout the year in local sports competitions. It's important that they get a chance to show what they can achieve and bring young people together from across the County. We wish all the competitors best of luck."

YPO is the proud supply partner to Cumbria County Council and was delighted to be invited by Active Cumbria to support such a great event happening in Cumbria .

Carlisle Leisure Limited

Carlisle Leisure is the main venue host for the Cumbria 2011 Schoolympics with finals taking place at The Sheepmount Stadium and The Sands Centre with the opening and closing ceremonies being held in The Sands Centre.
